Back on Track --9.04.2000
After starting 10th and having a strong run all day in the twice-rain-delayed and finall rain-shortened Pepsi Southern 500, Jeff Gordon came home fourth, bouncing back from a solid month of bad luck that left Gordon 10th in the points and almost 650 points behind the points leader. Speaking of the points leader, Bobby Labonte, he was the winner of the race after having a poor start. His pit crew was largely responsible for Labonte's sucess, as with every pit stop throughout the day, Labonte's pit crew put their car a few positions higher on the leader board than they came in, their dominating speed and efficiency reminding Gordon fans everywhere of what it was like back in 1998 and giving them a look at the other side of the story.
